Biomechanics Training for East Cobb Clients at Our Roswell Studio
East Cobb is one of the largest affluent communities in metro Atlanta, and personal training options there are everywhere. What you won't find in most of them is a system organized around how humans actually move. Functional Patterns trains the foundational functions: standing, walking, running, and throwing, with gait mechanics at the center of the system. Every client starts with a biomechanics, posture, and gait assessment, so programming is based on observation, not guesswork. Our Roswell studio is about 25 to 30 minutes away via Roswell Road and Johnson Ferry Road.
Training takes place at 1241 Canton St, Suite 300, Roswell, GA 30075. We are by appointment only. There are no walk-in hours and no open gym floor. Every client starts with a biomechanics, posture, and gait assessment so training decisions are based on observation, not guesswork.
What makes the training different
Isolated exercises build isolated strength. We program around integrated movement instead. The assessment looks at posture, gait, rotation, and how your myofascial chains (including the anterior and posterior oblique slings) coordinate, or fail to coordinate, during movement. Then every exercise in your program is selected based on what that assessment showed, with gait mechanics at the center.
Training is built around 1:1 private sessions, small corrective-based and circuit-based group classes (capped at 8), and pin-pointed myofascial release work. Barbell back squats, deadlifts, and Olympic lifts aren't programmed as staples. The system favors movements that transfer to walking, running, and daily life, because the goal isn't a bigger lift. It's a body that moves better and hurts less doing it.
Who this is for
East Cobb clients typically come to us for one of three reasons: chronic or recurring pain that hasn't resolved through conventional training, posture they want to genuinely improve rather than just be cued about, or a strength and conditioning approach that respects joint pain, scoliosis, or old injuries instead of training through them. We work with people managing joint pain, postural issues, scoliosis, and the accumulated cost of years of desk work and conventional gym training, alongside clients focused on muscle gain and weight loss through better mechanics.
A note on scope: we are trainers, not a medical practice. We don't diagnose conditions, we don't promise pain elimination, and training with us isn't a replacement for medical care. What we do is train movement: observe it, assess it, coach it, and progress it, so your capacity improves over time.

FAQ
How long is the drive from East Cobb?
About 25 to 30 minutes via Roswell Road and Johnson Ferry Road, roughly 15 miles outside rush hour. If you want to talk it through first, free consultation calls are available before you commit to an assessment.
Do I need training experience to start?
No. Most clients arrive with gym experience that didn't solve their problem, but beginners are welcome. The assessment meets you where you are, and programming is built around your current movement capacity.
Is this physical therapy or chiropractic care?
No. Functional Patterns Atlanta is a biomechanics and personal training studio. We don't diagnose or treat medical conditions. If you're under medical care, training can run alongside it. Talk to your provider first.
What happens at the first assessment?
We observe your posture, gait, and fundamental movement patterns, discuss your history and goals, and determine whether our training model is the right fit. You'll leave with a clear picture of what training would target and why.
How is this different from a regular personal trainer?
Conventional training typically programs isolated exercises and progressive overload on machines or barbells. We program around integrated movement: gait, rotation, sling mechanics. Every exercise is selected based on what your assessment showed. The methodology, not just the exercises, is the difference.
