Biomechanics Training for Marietta Clients at Our Roswell Studio
If you've tried the standard options and you're still hurting, the problem may not be you — it may be the training model. Marietta has no shortage of gyms, trainers, and rehab clinics. But if you've been through conventional personal training, physical therapy, or chiropractic care and the pain keeps returning once treatment stops, you've run into the limit of approaches that don't change how you move. Functional Patterns Atlanta exists for that gap: a training-first studio built around biomechanics, gait, and posture. Our Roswell studio serves Marietta clients every week — a straightforward drive east into Roswell, by appointment only.
Training takes place at 1241 Canton St, Suite 300, Roswell, GA 30075. Every client starts with a biomechanics, posture, and gait assessment. No assessment, no program — because programming exercises for a body we haven't observed would be guessing.
A training-first approach to chronic pain
Here's the distinction that matters: treatment addresses symptoms; training builds capacity. Many of our clients arrive after rounds of passive care — adjustments, modalities, massage — that helped for days and then faded. That's not a failure of those professions. It's that nobody trained their movement.
Our assessment looks at how you stand, walk, and rotate, and how load travels through your myofascial chains — including the anterior and posterior oblique slings that connect your shoulders to your opposite hips. Dysfunction in gait shows up everywhere: backs, knees, shoulders, necks. Then we train it. Functional Patterns centers the foundational human functions — standing, walking, running, throwing — delivered through 1:1 private sessions, small corrective-based and circuit-based group classes (capped at 8), and pin-pointed myofascial release. You'll train integrated, rotational, gait-driven movement — not isolated machines, not barbell back squats or deadlifts programmed as staples. The system deliberately moved past conventional lifting because, for pain-prone bodies, it too often loads dysfunction on top of dysfunction.
Over weeks and months, the aim is improved capacity: moving more, with less pain, in ways that transfer to real life. That's the honest version. We don't diagnose conditions, we don't promise pain elimination, and training with us is not a replacement for medical care. If you're under a provider's care, we can train alongside it.
Who this is for
Marietta clients typically come to us managing chronic or recurring back pain, joint pain, postural issues, or scoliosis — often after years of active lifestyles that their bodies can no longer cash the checks for. We also train clients focused on muscle gain and weight loss who want it built on sound mechanics rather than borrowed time. Beginners are welcome; the assessment meets you at your current capacity.

FAQ
I've already done physical therapy. Why would training work?
PT and training do different jobs. Rehab typically restores baseline function after injury; training builds capacity beyond it. If you've been discharged but never rebuilt how you move — gait, rotation, load distribution — that gap is exactly what assessment-led training addresses.
Do you work with herniated discs / arthritis / scoliosis?
We train clients managing a wide range of musculoskeletal realities, including scoliosis and chronic joint issues. What we don't do is diagnose or treat medical conditions. Bring your provider's clearance where relevant, and we'll assess what training can honestly target.
Is this just another bootcamp or CrossFit-style gym?
No. No barbell staples, no timed maximal efforts, no programming that ignores your assessment. Small-group classes are capped at 8 and coached around corrective and circuit-based work. Intensity is earned through movement quality, not imposed on top of dysfunction.
How long before I notice a difference?
It varies by person, history, and consistency — and we'd be lying if we gave you a number. What we can tell you is the process: assess, train the patterns, reassess, progress. Clients who commit to the process give it the time adaptation actually requires.
What does the assessment involve?
We observe your posture and gait, walk through your training and injury history, assess fundamental movement patterns, and discuss your goals. You'll leave understanding what we'd train, why, and whether we're the right fit — before you spend anything beyond the assessment.
