Posture & Movement Training for Sandy Springs Clients at Our Roswell Studio
If your posture was built by a desk, it won't be fixed by a cue. Sandy Springs professionals spend their days seated — and the rounded shoulders, forward head, and aching lower back that come with it aren't character flaws. They're adaptations. At Functional Patterns Atlanta, we treat posture as what it actually is: an output of how your whole body moves, not a static position you hold through willpower. Our Roswell studio is a short drive from Sandy Springs, and posture is one of the core problems our training is built to work on.
Training takes place at 1241 Canton St, Suite 300, Roswell, GA 30075. We are by appointment only — no walk-ins, no open gym floor. Every client starts with a biomechanics, posture, and gait assessment, because you can't train posture you haven't observed.
Posture is a movement problem
Here's the principle our training is built on: the only "bad" posture is the one you can't get out of. Posture isn't a pose — it's the position your body defaults to based on how you walk, breathe, rotate, and distribute load through your myofascial chains. That's why posture correctors, standing desks, and "sit up straight" reminders tend to fail: they address the position without changing the mechanics underneath it.
Your assessment examines gait, ribcage and pelvis mechanics, rotation, and how your anterior and posterior oblique slings coordinate during movement. Then training targets the patterns — not just the painful spot. Functional Patterns trains the foundational human functions (standing, walking, running, throwing) with gait mechanics at the center, using 1:1 private sessions, small corrective-based and circuit-based group classes capped at 8, and pin-pointed myofascial release. Over time, the goal is a body that organizes itself better by default — at the desk, on a walk, and under load.
Who this is for
Sandy Springs clients usually arrive with some version of the same story: years at a desk, chronic neck, shoulder, or back tension, and a history of stretching, massages, or conventional training that helped temporarily but never changed the pattern. We also work with clients managing scoliosis, joint pain, and recurring pain that hasn't responded to standard approaches — and with people who simply want strength training that respects their spine instead of loading dysfunction on top of it.
A note on scope: we are trainers, not a medical practice. We don't diagnose conditions or promise structural correction. We use language like support, work on, and improve capacity — because that's what training honestly does. If you're under medical care, our training can run alongside it; talk to your provider first.

FAQ
Can training actually change my posture?
Training can improve the movement patterns that produce your posture — how you walk, rotate, breathe, and load your body. What we won't promise is a guaranteed structural transformation. Posture is adaptable, and the honest work is in the mechanics underneath it.
I've tried physical therapy / chiropractic / massage. How is this different?
Those are valuable services with a different job. We're a training studio: we observe movement, assess it, coach it, and progress it over weeks and months. If you've had temporary relief without lasting change, a movement-based training approach may be the missing piece — and it can run alongside other care.
Do I need to be in pain to train here?
No. Many clients come for posture, performance, or injury-resilient strength training. Pain is a common entry point, not a requirement.
What does a session look like?
1:1 private sessions are fully individualized around your assessment. Small-group classes (max 8) are corrective-based or circuit-based and coached, not follow-along. Expect gait work, rotational training, and integrated movement — not machines and not barbell staples.
How do I start?
Book a biomechanics, posture, and gait assessment. We'll observe how you move, discuss your history and goals, and tell you plainly whether our training model fits.
Stop cueing your posture and start training it.
